Make The World Go Away

You don’t need to know the details about everything in the world

Make the world go away

And get it off my shoulders

Say the things you used to say

And make the world go away.

It is very easy to become overwhelmed by the world and get into a dark place.

  • Watch TV news, especially before going to bed
  • Spend an hour every day and two hours on Sundays reading newspapers
  • Spend an hour or more online every day reading news stories
  • Spend an hour daily on social media — Facebook, Twitter, Instagram

Do any of the above and you will be singing Eddy Arnold’s popular song from bygone years.

Is it necessary to know all of the gory details about everything that is happening in the world?

Not in my opinion.

In his lecture Imagining Creates, Neville Goddard talked about how the media uses words to grab our attention and to make us fearful.

He goes on to talk about how salacious gossip is reported and how it influences us and leads to “the rise and fall of nations.”

Like it or not, every attempt is being made to influence and control us by those who wield power. And they know exactly what they are doing.

We are being influenced by what we let into our minds.

If we want a good outcome we have to guard the gates to our minds so that we let enter only what is good, decent, and beneficial.

The press thrives on bad news. It’s their bread and butter. But we don’t have to play their game.

The days of balanced reporting by journalists are long gone. Print and other media have chosen sides and now promote propaganda disguised as news. There are a few exceptions.

Even countries we still consider democracies are not immune to the unprofessionalism of those who call themselves journalists.

Just before Canada’s last Federal Election on October 21, 2019, Justin Trudeau’s Liberals set aside $600 million to support — some would say bribe — Canada’s struggling press.

Would any of the bailed-out media be critical of anything Trudeau does? Not if they want to survive.

We should be careful what we let into our minds. While we need to be aware of what is going on around us, we do not need to know all the details.

Let in what is good and beneficial, and ignore the rest. Most importantly, think for yourself.
