Lately, I’ve been interested in trying to make some extra income by selling the unique prompts I come up with. Through my research, I’ve found the three platforms for selling AI art prompts.

In this post, I’ll provide tips and details on three platforms to help you start selling their prompt creations. Whether you’re a prompt expert or just getting started, these platforms make it easy to get your prompts in front of buyers and start earning.

AI Art Prompts in These 3 Platforms

You are spoilt for choice. It seems that new marketplaces are springing up every day. In the following section, I will show you my 3 top picks for selling your prompts.

1. Promptbase

Promptbase is one of the leading specialized marketplaces exclusively for AI prompts. As an early platform in this space, it has a large existing user base of prompt buyers and sellers.

PromptBase takes a 20% fee from sellers. So, prompt engineers keep 80% of every sale of their prompt, and on custom prompt jobs which is rather low.

To sell your prompts on Promptbas, you will need to do this

Step 1: Start Selling

Select “Sell a Prompt” or “Sell” on the top right corner of the menu

Step 2: Input the General Information

• Prompt Type: You will need to pick a prompt type. It will be “Midjourney” for us. You can also choose to sell prompts for ChatGpt, Stable Diffusion and more.
• Title: Give a title for your prompt ( Eg. Vintage Animal Watercolor)
• Description: Describe what your prompt does to a potential buyer. A more detailed description will increase your sales.
• Price: Select a price

Step 3: Fill in the Prompt Details

• Prompt: Put any variables in [square brackets]. Include all your Midjourney settings as tags within the prompt (e.g. — v 5 — q 2).
• Testing Prompt: One example of your prompt
• Prompt Instructions: Any extra tips or examples for the buyer on how to use this prompt.
• Example images: Upload 9 example images generated by your prompt
• Midjourney Profile: A link to your Midjourney profile

Step 4: Review and Start Selling

Promptbase will review your prompt. Once this is done, your prompt will be available for sell in the Marketplace.

• Offer Prompt bundles or packs to upsell your prompts

• Looks at what’s trending from the “Hottest Prompts”.

2. Wirestock

Wirestock offers AI artists and visual creators a platform to exhibit, connect with potential buyers and monetize their creations within the digital domain.

They provide creators with a single gateway to the most extensive marketplaces available.

What I love about Wirestock is the ability to do everything on Discord with their Discord Bot. It allows you to list your image automatically together with the prompt!

To start using the bot, you will need to connect your Wirestock account to Discord. Follow these steps:

Step 1: Add Wirestock Bot to your server

Add the Wirestock bot to your Discord account with this link.

Authorize Wirestock Bot to your server

Step 2: Link your Discord Account with Wirestock

To link your Wirestock account with Discord, you will need to log in to Discord by inputting the command “/login”.

This will prompt the bot to request your Discord “token”.

📌 Where to Find Your Token? You can locate your unique token from your Wirestock account by heading over “Account Settings”. Copy and paste your token into Discord.

Step 3: Generate an Image

After connecting your account, you can start generating images, as usual, using the “/imagine” command.

Step 4: Upscale Midjourney Images and Send to Wirestock

Click the “…” icon adjacent to the Midjourney-created image, access “Apps,” and select “Upscale”

Progress Status: The Wirestock bot will send you a message with a link once the image has been successfully upscaled.

Step 5: Publish on Wirestock

You will be given the option to “Publish on Wirestock” or “Participate in their Monetary Challenges💰”.

Step 6: Review and Earn

Your images and prompts will be under review and will be available for sell on your portfolio once it’s done.

This way, you can sell your artwork and prompts all at once! Wirestock is probably my favorite for now!

3. Etsy

While Etsy built its reputation as a marketplace for handmade and vintage physical goods, it has emerged as a popular platform for selling digital products as well.

AI art prompts are one type of digital item that creators are now offering on Etsy.

For sellers new to utilizing AI art prompts, Etsy provides a more accessible entry point. Compared to those specialized marketplaces, Etsy’s fee structure is less costly:

After signing up for an account, head over to Shop Manager and create your first listing.

Step 2: Add Images

• Import Photo: With Etsy, you will need to create a thumbnail image plus supporting images showing example images of your prompt. You can do that easily on Canva.
• Video: Optional

Step 3: Fill in the Listing Details

• Title: Include keywords that buyers would use to search for your item.
• About: Select the applicable option about the listing
• Category: Select a Category that matches your listing like “Digital Drawings & Illustrations”
• Type: Select “Digital”
• Description: Describe what your customer will get from your purchase. Include instructions for downloading the digital files.

Other information includes price, quantity and more.

Step 4: Upload your digital file

Different from Promptbase and Wirestock, you will need to create a digital file of your prompt in either PNG format or PDF format.

Buyers can download these files as soon as they complete their purchase.

Step 5: Save and Publish

Click Publish to finish your listing. Your Payment account will be charged $0.20 USD as a listing fee.

Listings may take up to 48 hours to show up in Etsy search results and categories.

Etsy provides more flexibility for creators. You can immediately list products without waiting for approval, price items however you wish and sell prompts.
