Come On Already — Make Me Happy
A conversation about the truth we refuse to tell ourselves

“It’s all up to you.” The conversation had begun, yet again. Words tossed out in earnest anticipation, Serious efforts lost in frustrating rhetorical circles While silence stirs the depths of discontent.
“Why is everything still the same?” Another question begging for resolution Neither of us having an answer, Both withering in the absence of inspiration and truth Dissolving any interest in further discussion.
“But you promised you’d find a way.” Hesitation, a pregnant pause of caution, Confusion and chaos crossing paths with doubt Desperately searching for something significant To fill the cold, empty silence.
“This time will be different.” A challenge of confidence, exhumed from the shadows Then slowly disappearing in the dust of apathy, No longer bearing truth or merit or possibility While I wait for my future to arrive.
“Where does happiness live?” A stirring of life, whispers long held captive. “Wherever you look, whoever you are, You will find what you seek.” I release a deep breath, and turn away from the mirror.
