Maintain Habits while Travelling

Part 1 — Why it’s important

Yay, my travel visa to Australia is finally granted! My husband and I are going to travel to Sydney and Melbourne for our honeymoon. This is also the first time we are traveling out of Asia since Covid. I am overwhelmed with joy and excitement.

Hmm. Wait. Something is raining on my parade.

What about weight loss? The croissant has been waiving at me since I bought the air tickets. I am a foodie, so I know I will fall into the temptations of all the amazing food there. Will all my effort in trying to eat clean and work out daily just get ruined?

What about writing on Medium? There are so many things to explore, will I have the time to sit down and type?

And what about many other habits that I have been trying to build in the past few months, e.g. waking up early to read devotion, reading books every day and so on.

I need to find a way to maintain my habits while traveling. Some may suggest why not just forget all that and fully indulge in traveling.

However, I wouldn’t want my previous effort to be wasted. Life continues after the trip, and it will be much harder to pick up the routine if I stop during the trip. Also, all the habits are there to help me be the best version of myself, so I want to continue to be the best version even while travelling. It’s like you would still be eating your daily vitamins while travelling.

Nonetheless, I won’t be too cruel to myself. I won’t force myself to exercise for one hour at night if I have already spent the whole day walking around Melbourne CBD.

I am still in the process of planning for the trip, so I am still brainstorming the strategies to maintain the habits.
