Magnificent Eucalyptus Trees
California travel stories from Gabriella

During my recent visit to California, Albany I was awed by the magnificent and beautiful eucalyptus trees you can find in the area. I was fortunate to be able to stay at the condominium right next to Albany Hill Park while visiting with my lovely friend Dr. Preeti Singh and her family. The park had wonderful eucalyptus trees. The trees looked amazing when the sun was coming up and going down. The wonderful smell of eucalyptus surrounded the area.

Unfortunately, just a few days before I arrived there was a fire in the park. The area needed to be evaluated and the park was closed. The workers who were there after the fire to clean up told us that the park will probably be closed for at least three weeks. It was very sad to see these beautiful trees burned and being cut down because of the damage the fire caused.
I am grateful that no human life was last during this fire and that no buildings were damaged. I am grateful that I was able to see the park from the outside and experience these wonderful trees.

Eucalyptus trees are very fast-growing and can be used for their medicinal properties in many different ways. The most common use is eucalyptus oil. Eucalyptus also has anti -infective, anti-microbial and anti-cancer properties (Gullon et al , 2020). I have eucalyptus oil at my home and was using it to test my smell while I was recovering from COVID. I have a bottle in my shower and since I came back from California every day, I opened the bottle and take a sniff of the beautiful smell and remember the moments in California when I was walking next to the park with my dear friend Dr. Preeti Singh and smelling the lovely eucalyptus trees.
