Magic Mirror
Month of Poetry (Scry)
Unabashed, I stared the ancient mirror stared back my young reflection spent time and gazed transfixed upon familiar terrain I watched things I thought I knew and then…
Things in the mirror began to shift a different me looked back at first, she smiled inviting me to go inside to go to the deeper realm before I fully understood, she melted quick— lahar I watched in shock — her waxen face drip down from eyes to chin her hair, it entangled grooves and ruts replaced soft skin.
How is it possible scrying is real my logical brain cried out Here I am, sitting alone in the dark altered state, overtaken ah — catoptromancy.
Dear Reader —
I give you, my poem for Poe-tober 12th and the prompt SCRY. I hope you enjoy it.
Here’s some updated housekeeping. What we’re finding is when our followers read our work, it’s not just reading for 30+ seconds, but also Engagement. This means that when you engage with me via Claps, Comments, AND Read Time, you will ensure that I earn the maximum amount for my stories — which, to be honest, is still pennies. If you choose audio, I’m compensated at a slightly higher rate, and if you listen to my short poems twice, it counts twice. While you’re at it, will you please subscribe to my page HERE?
As a writer, I want to make things easy, pleasurable, and pain-free, but chances are, you’re a writer too, and we live under the strictures of Medium when we read and write here. Frankly, I love this place — it’s not a perfect system, but it’s the system I have for now, and I’m going to keep at it. I hope you do too.
Hugs — AmyLee
