Nonfiction: The guidelines page is more of an application. ROVA wants you to know why you would make a great writer or photographer for ROVA, what you will write about, and any experience you have. Writers get a byline and a flat rate of $200.00 for all accepted stories.

Nonfiction: A&U is looking for book excerpts, general interest, essays, humor, interviews, personal experience, profile, and photo features. Articles should be 800–1,200 words. They pay $150.00–300.00 for assigned articles.
Columns: They have a few columns they are also looking for, paying $175.00. The columns are:
- The Culture of AIDS (book reviews, music, film) 300 words.
- Viewpoint (personal opinion) 750 words.
Fiction and Poetry: They also consider fiction and poetry.
