#166 — DEAD OR ALIVE | Based on a True Story
Lucy Goosey and the White Rabbit
Can you spot the wishbone in this photo? And do you know what Lucy’s wish is?
I’ve been told there is a Medium.tax for tagging writers, so I will refrain from it on this post.
It’s not easy.
It was a cool and damp Monday morning. Hurricane/tropical storm Hillary brought two days of much needed rain to the high desert.
We were going postal.
Walking to the post office via the bunny walk.
There are a lot of bunnies in the ‘hood. Cottontails, Jack rabbits, domestic rabbits turned loose, two at first, then hundreds, but the coyotes have come, turkey vultures and California ranchers.
Not many bunnies anymore. Six miles uphill there are a lot.
We were walking by the house of an (ex?)-Trumper. Almost no one has those flags and signs out anymore. A lot of them were ripped to shreds by Mother Nature. The white rabbit was in front of the house. He ran across the yard and disappeared into the back yard. Lucy didn’t see him. She’s on a single-minded mission.
She knows what “post office” means. It means she gets a treat from the clerk. We don’t feed her at home. She’s feral.
When we left, we turned right. We were going to take the long way home, but in front of the little house by the post office, was a herd of deer, so we headed back the same way despite Lucy’s stubborn pulling.
Chase. Chase. Chase.
I’ve read recently that bottle nose dolphins are bi-sexual. This one is not.
Sometimes, a bit of paradise is right outside the front door . . .
. . .and the back door.
The zentangle of wildflowers reminds me of smillew.wallpaper.
Feral dog hides in garden. In the foreground plums that never ripen due to a short growing season in the high desert. The first frost might be in October or it might be tomorrow.
I planted a Maple tree seed in spring.
Feral dog poses for size comparison.
Another Maple tree growing from a piece of petrified wood.
Katie’s kitty.
