Lucid Reading

How Deep Do You Read?

I am a reader, as I suppose you all are who end up reading this piece. We read. We write. It’s what we do.

The other day I got my daily email from Weberbooks.com and picked out a free Kindle book to read. The Weberbooks daily email always has a bunch of free books in it to get from Amazon, and you just never know what you are likely to find. In any case, the one I found just sounded interesting and ticked off the points for me. There was a country vet involved. There were horses involved, and the lady was about my same age. So, I came to be reading Catch and Release: Horse Doctor Adventures (Horse Doctor Adventures Catch and Release Book 1) by Elizabeth Woolsey, who is a retired veterinarian from Australia.

It wasn’t swashbuckling exciting but was a bit more stirring than James Herriot’s books, though I love them dearly, too. The book is just right. Do I sound like Goldilocks? A little.

I was lying on my bed in the cool of mid-morning, reading the story. Our days lately have been on the warm side. Yesterday it got up to 88°F, which for me is hot enough to have my feet and calves all swell up to kingdom come, which was why I was lying down, hoping the fluid collecting would dissipate somewhat and I could avoid having Fred Flintstone feet for the day.

The story, as I said, is interesting. In fact, once I am finished here, I will go pick up my Kindle again to read some more of it.

The thing is, I don’t think I’ve ever had an experience like this before. Where I go from regular reading to lucid reading. I recognized the feeling because, a few times, I have gone from regular dreaming to lucid dreaming, and that is always a delightful shock. To me, anyway. I had no idea until yesterday that there was such a thing as lucid reading. Now that I know, I want to do it more often.

Thanks for reading.

Please give me a thumbs up (some claps), follow me if you are so inclined, or subscribe to get a notification every time I publish, which is about eight to ten times a month…or so.
