Lovers On Call
She will never understand my jokes, let alone laugh at them.
He calls her on messenger
Him: “Hey honey.”
“Yeah,” she whispers.
“Why are you whispering. I can’t hear you.”
“My dad is here, will talk later.” — she types him instead
“What is that oldie doing in your room at this time?”
“He is my dad, you asshole. He is searching for something.” — she continues typing
“Oh okay relax. Chill baby chill.”
“As if I can just chill.”
“Hmm, don’t get angry at me. I am sorry.”
“Yeah, whatever.”
time passes, yet her dad doesn't step out of her room
“Is he still there?”
“Yes.”
“What is he searching for?”
“I do not really know.”
“Okay babe, just call me back when he is gone.”
He ends the call
The next day she calls him back
“Hey, darling.”
“Hey, honey. Wassup. Seems you are in a good mood. Right?”
“Hell yeah.”
“Oh really?”
“You know what, dad took us to the beach.”
“Beach? Oh.”
“Yeah. Some nice family bonding, you know.”
“Oh. So your oldie was searching for glue last night. Right?”
“Ahh…Glue? Why?”
“Oh, God. I mean family “bonding” right. So he was looking for the glue last night. Lol.”
“Oh. Sorry I did not get you. And stop calling my dad ‘oldie’. Hmm, will call back later.”
She ends the call
“Jeez, when is she going to appreciate my jokes. I was better off saying jokes to my couch, at least it jiggles a bit,” he said to himself.
