Life didn’t end; it changed course.

The picture above may look sad to you. But if you were present just 30 seconds before as these three made a mad dash to the door, you would have cheered the winner.

I took this photo while visiting Journey’s End, an animal sanctuary that rescues abused, abandoned, and special-needs animals and give them a home with lots and lots of love. They house everything from dogs and cats to pigs, chickens, goats, and horses.

As my children and I walked through the sanctuary all we could do was smile; our faith in humanity restored.
