Love Not Courage Triggered This Risk

Fearful Biggest Risk I Have Ever Taken

Thank you to Nancy Blackmon for this 30-day challenge on Refresh The Soul.

What is the biggest risk you’ve ever taken? What gave you the courage to take that risk?

Moving Forward To Protect My Sons

I have never climbed a large mountain or parachuted out of a plane. I do not think I am a big risk taker. I have swam in the ocean and made some feeble attempts at surfing. I loved to climb trees as a child, but I haven’t climbed any lately.

I have taken care of critically ill patients in the ICU. I have ridden on the back of my son’s motorcycle and a horse or two. Does having a major back surgery count?

I knew I had to leave my first husband with my 3 young sons. I went to the courthouse and asked if I could get a restraining order. I only had to wait a few minutes, then I went before a judge. I was given a restraining order that fast.

I still had bruises on my neck from where he had choked me. I don’t know if the judge saw them, but he believed I was being abused. So, I got the restraining order that day. I had already seen a lawyer about a divorce.

I got some of our clothing together, and a good friend let us stay at her home for a short while. I was too afraid to go home. I called my husband and told him about the restraining order while he was at work.

I guess it did take courage, but I knew I had to keep my boys safe. Plus, I had gotten my RN license, so I knew I could financially support the boys. I simply did what I had to do at that time. I should have done it sooner, but I did not see a way until the fateful day that changed our lives.
