Love Knows
A poetic exploration of going through changes
Under this ice I attempt to melt But the strength of The weather Has me outmatched
What sanity Guided me to Decisions filling heart
Oh, my love Twas not sanity
Love knows Temptation and fury And the stillness of Hearts marinated In hurt
What sanity Guided me to Committing forever
Oh, my love Twas not sanity
Love knows Forgiveness and phantoms And the enduring weight Hearts existed in Indefinitely
Under this ice I brace myself For how I may Burn up again in fire And capitulate desire
This poem is an ode to how seasons of life, particularly how hormones, can have us at their mercy. That in one moment we may seek ice, and the next we seek fire. That at once we may have steely emotions, and the next erupt like lava. No manual can prepare us for the multitudes of journeys our hearts, minds, and bodies will go on as we mature. What we found in love seems destined to change, this poems reflects on how this can challenge sanity.
