Love Fully
April Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Graffiti & Street Art”
Love is always the best answer.
Last summer, I took two 100-mile round-trip bike rides from home in Rochester to Faribault (FAIR-ih-boh). I felt free as I rambled along on the Minnesota country roads; rolling by farms, fields, and woods. The long solo rides offered time to think, too.
On one of those stops in Faribault, the mural shown above brightened the day. In it, hands, letters, and braille spelled out “L.O.V.E.” The flowers expressed feelings of love, as well as beauty, too.
Looking back on that ride to Faribault, while pondering the mural, I thought more about love. Then, I realized I could make a better impact by showing more love to those around me, even my enemies.
Rather than writing more about the topic of love, below are quotes from people who had a way with words.
“To love or have loved, that is enough. Ask nothing further.” Victor Hugo, Les Misérables
“The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people.” — G.K. Chesterton
“To fear love is to fear life, and those who fear life are already 3-parts dead.” — Bertrand Russell
“If someone thinks that peace and love are just a cliche that must have been left behind in the 60s, that’s a problem. Peace and love are eternal.” — John Lennon
“Where there is love there is life.” — Mahatma Gandhi
“I have been astonished that men could die martyrs for their religion — I have shuddered at it, I shudder no more. I could be martyred for my religion. Love is my religion and I could die for that. I could die for you. My Creed is Love and you are its only tenet.” — John Keats
“Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.” — Alfred Lord Tennyson, In Memoriam
