Love bites -

leaves a mark

breaks the skin and sets you

to thinking, that maybe it’s

a little too dangerous

a little too easy to get

caught up in, like

gambling or drugs

or online Porn; high

internet bills, overdue credit cards

lack of sleep, a fear of loss;

We sleep next to the source

and wonder what is it?

Just another person,

equal parts man or woman, same

heart, lungs, fingers that caress in

places with no feelings -

that transmit no sensations, only words

that sounds like happiness

comfort,

warmth & dreams coming true.

Loves sparks, sets the tinder on fire,

conflagrations of the heart

the soul, ash falling down

on our lives for years afterwards,

cleaning up yet not caring -

better to be buried in the ashes

from a burning love,

then sitting lonely

in a sterile room.
