Looking Up Lifted

Six-Word Photo Story Challenge: “Shine!”

Camping again can’t come soon enough.

I remember the very moment this photo was captured: It was this time last year after the kids’ and I took our first camping trip without their dad. After the two-hour drive and a pit stop for gas and some salty french fries from McDonald's, we pulled up to our cabin. I stepped out of the car, took a deep breath in the perfect silence that only nature can offer, and looked up at my exhale; I immediately felt my stress melt away and my heart lighter than a hummingbird’s feathers.

I need to recreate this moment in my life again — soon.

We leave for our annual “Family” Camping trip in a few weeks, and even though I’m not in the right mindset (yet) to be the social butterfly I used to be — the kids and I need this time in nature to rejuvenate ourselves and each other.

I’m excited.

I hope they are too.

Thank you for reading. I love you all.
