Looking at Two Awesome Aspects of The Medium Writers Challenge
More than money or fame

Have you seen a star in the cone of a spotlight on stage? The spotlight is so focused that everything else around the subject becomes invisible. Moving around in the dark are stagehands in black clothes, minding their business in getting the set ready for what comes next. We know they’re there, but we don’t care. The spotlight creates a space hitherto unavailable because the stage belongs to the star.
That space is voluminous, much bigger than the cone of light the star occupies. Previously unnoticed writers suddenly find the freedom to maneuver without much pressure. The pressure is on star writers who have a name to uphold. Their readers expect a lot. Every word, every inch forward — Bleeds. Minute. Planning. Stagehands have a schedule too, but they gain a little more breathing room.
Then, by diligence or by chance, a stagehand who has been secretly honing their stagecraft skills may get noticed. Either way, a flood of exceptional, carefully written pieces now surface on the platform. A flow of quality is in place for readers’ pleasure for months to come.
The Medium Writers Challenge creates new space and raises the bar.
