Long-Term Fasting Lowers Complications From One Deadly Virus
Fasting regularly is a great way to protect yourself from severe symptoms of a new outbreak
As we all know, intermittent fasting has many benefits, such as protecting you from diabetes and heart disease.
But it’s also one of the best ways to lose and maintain weight loss for life — if it’s something you decide to follow as a lifestyle choice.
It sure beats lowering your calories every day. I find it easier to not eat for some time rather than to nibble like a mouse all day.
That eating style leaves me more hungry, craving foods that won’t serve me, and adds unnecessary stress to my life.
Fasting also helps to lower inflammation while improving your cardiovascular health. One marvellous finding came out of those who practised this over decades.
Researchers identified 205 patients who tested positive for Covid 19. Of those, 73 regularly fasted once a month.
Those who practised regular fasting had a much lower rate of hospitalisation or death due to Covid 19.
Although intermittent fasting was not associated with whether or not someone tests positive for Covid 19, this key indicator of fasting regularly seemed to lower the severity of the virus.
In the Intermountain study, participants fasted for an average of 40 years.
This study can help researchers closely uncover long-term intermittent fasters’ benefits.
Most of these people fast because of religious reasons. Almost 62 per cent of Utah’s population belongs to the Church of Christ, whose members typically fast on the first Sunday of every month by going without food or drink for two consecutive days.
Researchers stipulate that much more research is needed to fully understand why fasting is associated with better Covid 19 outcomes.
Still, it’s most likely due to a host of ways it affects the body.
Why fasting is so effective in the war against Covid 19
Fasting reduces inflammation, especially since hyper inflammation is associated with poor Covid 19 outcomes.
In addition, after 12–14 hours of fasting, the body switches from using glucose in the blood to ketones, including linoleic acid.
Lionel acid is said to make the Covid 19 virus less able to attach to other cells. This small snippet of information is a very interesting finding indeed!
Intermittent fasting also helps promote autophagy, our body’s internal recycling system. That helps your body destroy and then recycle damaged and infected cells.
I need to mention that this outcome is for those who have been practising fasting for decades, not weeks!
If you want to practice intermittent fasting to protect yourself, it’s highly recommended that you speak to your doctor or health professional before diving in.
Fasting can have some implications for those who are already underweight, pregnant, have kidney or heart disease and are diabetic.
Covid 19 should not be seen as a substitute for vaccination.
Do take all of the necessary vaccinations to help protect your body from the virus.
Fasting is a means for preventing the symptoms — not stopping you from getting it.
We’re all susceptible, and vigilance is necessary.
Do you practice intermittent fasting regularly, and have you been protected from the severity of Covid 19 symptoms?
