Lonely Window

A poem of a sweet, but lonely man

There was a time when you looked so clear The lights tiptoeing on your skin, Shyly inviting you for a dance But your eyes and white smile welcomed her dearly, Letting her spin and twirl tirelessly

She didn’t know when it started, but you started to blur The lights that were once a glee, Now still with her right-hand bravely lifted Your eyes filled with want, But your deep and shaky sigh confused her

The colors on you had faded greatly The lines that held your shape had wrinkled away Like a stone, she kept her posture, But you admired the darkness of your eyes more, Whispering apologies and praying for the clouds to come

You are now fully bare, Resting your back on the curve of a sharp darkness While she gracefully sits on the sill of the opened window You slide your fingers over your lids, And dare take a look at her once more

Your eyes filled with tears, as her’s meet yours, but you’re not ready to leave and she knows She cracks a sad smile, Still radiating the warmth you miss dangerously Nailed in place, you shake violently with a tiny smile on your lips

It’s okay” she whispers softly, and you can’t help but mutter more apologies “Take your time” she adds, and you let your jumpy breaths reply her So she removes her gaze to look at the ocean

She takes a deep, deep breath, “I’ll be here — ” “I’ll be here when you’re ready to dance once more
