||Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu||
May all beings everywhere be happy and free. May my thoughts, words, and actions contribute to that freedom.
May people of color be free from fear, oppression, and centuries of systemic racism.
May white people be free of the hatred, presumptions, and lies that have caused that oppression and may they see the inherent harmfulness in the systems they have created.
May every person in a position of power see that a system built on the backs of an oppressed underclass cannot produce real freedom for anyone that is involved in it.
May we all wake up to the interconnectedness of all beings and all actions.
May we realize that none of us are free unless we all are.
Wishing for peace for all does not mean that we do not act in the face of injustice. This prayer for universal happiness and freedom does not excuse those who have acted unjustly.
The fight for freedom is not a war against individuals or groups of people. It is a war against outdated systems and ideas.
Every individual is invited to live in the house of peace. But intolerance, denial, and fear cannot enter this holiest house. They must be left behind.

Begin your day by reciting this mantra. If you have a mala, follow your beads and recite the mantra 108 or 27 times. If not, you may wish to set a timer. Or, chant the mantra until you feel like you’re finished… and then do a few more.
Sit upright, with your head directly above your heart. Maintain this posture while allowing your body to remain loose. Do not become rigid.
Bring your attention to the spiritual heart center. Take three deep breaths. Slowly draw the breath in. Feel your lungs expand. Your breath floats your torso like a balloon.
Exhale slowly and deliberately, pausing slightly before the next inhale.
After the third round of breath, begin to recite the mantra:
LOKAH
Mindfully hear your own voice entering your ears
SAMASTAH
Your breath slowly releases and supports every syllable.
SUKHINO
Your skull reverberates with the sacred tones.
BHAVANTU
Begin again.
Carry this wish for universal peace in your heart throughout your day. Let it be the driving force behind your thoughts, words, and actions.
