Those Wondrous Words

Canva Edit: Monoreena

“Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder” — Rumi

The glass jar that rests on my work-station twinkles with words.

Words that curate Me, My existence, Forms of my impulse, Shape of my thoughts, My instincts, gut

Coursing through my veins Nourishing every cell to come alive —

To the early gold Rain drummed firma Humming earth To moon shined sky Intermittently starry dark,

To document nights replete with Insomnia, Nocturnal crows, That lone street light, Sudden mid-night inspirations —

Those were all words Only words.

Instances of indignation, Condescending moments veiled in care, Subsiding seconds, Weeping pillows, Finding its way to my journal, pages cobwebbed with scribbling ink,

Words that reeked of ignominy, piercing my vulnerability, tearing into my self-esteem, lacerations bleeding clandestine, all answered —

By words. Always words.

Self rendezvous Skittish moves Letters and syllables Some bold, some italicised Me & myself…..

That which re-shaped me, Bonafide identity, Cleared curtains of mist, Those books of secrets, Defined the beams that came through the cracks,

That often spills over my Laptop To form into some Nonsense verse Which I pass as poetry Like now……

Grotesque, crushhhing Jarrring, ethereal, magical Beautiful

They were all words,

That made me Broke me And made me again —

They have always been words. Wondrous words. Words.

*Logophile: Lover of words.

Author’s Note: If we sit to analyse what we actually seek, it is always the intangible of it.They are not the letters or syllables in a Word, but the thoughts, emotions, energy that it conveys to inspire, invigorate or heal. A string of some that don’t mean much to you, may stick with someone else for a lifetime”. As someone trying to write for some good months now, I have realised it is important to be mindful of the choice of words, and often find myself validating the age old concept of Less is more.
