Locusts
-a heartfelt poem
Western states of India are battling with a locust outbreak with swarms damaging the vegetation amid these troubling times. This attempt is a peasant’s cry-
Locusts
In the weak light of a lantern her thinning hopes flickered while remembering the raging tempest of yesterday that swallowed the vegetation of dying dreams when the last blade vanished the umber creatures made a home to lay their eggs on the dung tiers of a falling roof her children slept on empty wishes afeared of the bulging eyes that stared insolently at the shattered pieces of her heart if you hear the sound of flapping feathers in the wake of a dying day, the Unknown is ringing an alarming bell of the coming doom pray, for your lamentations will go unheard in the soprano of the silence that follows this unlooked-for season of locusts ©M.D.B.
