Locked In

A Poem

I Walked into Paperchase before it closed. The clubbers and pub-goers flooded the streets. The origami sheets hanging from the ceiling, untouched and pure.

II We got carried away, and they accidentally locked us in. Surrounded by pencils and novelty rubbers, we took out the snacks we bought and ate.

III The strong aroma of jimmy choo perfume, wafting through the door, the cologne. Somebody saw us and left a couple of cocktails by the door.

IV The next morning they found us with our hands covered in paint. The entire store was decorated with hand prints. It was in the newspaper that day, the headline read;

“Ghost handprints left overnight at Paperchase.”
