Liz Cheney Is Not Afraid Of Speaking Out
She lost her reelection bid because of it
Liz Cheney had been a Republican leader in the U.S. House
After she voted to impeach Trump after the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. three years ago, Liz Cheney was ousted from her position of leadership among Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives. She became a major target of Trump and lost her bid for reelection.
Even though the Cheney name has been prominent in Wyoming and U.S. politics for decades with her service and that of her father Dick Cheney being Vice President, the Republican voters chose someone else over Liz Cheney in the primary election.
Liz Cheney has continued to speak out about Trump and is convinced that he is dangerous for the country. She is doing all she can to be sure that he is not elected again. Some others who are working for that same goal are Trump’s niece Mary Trump and George Conway, a Republican lawyer.
After the Republicans removed Cheney from her leadership position, she was replaced by Elise Stefanik of New York. Now Cheney is speaking out about Stefanik and does not mince words in criticizing her.
A story by Sara Boboltz for HuffPost was titled “Elise Stefanik’s Press Release Archive Vanishes After Liz Cheney Jab.”
New York Rep. Elise Stefanik’s complete archive of press releases has vanished from her congressional website, apparently after former GOP colleague Liz Cheney accused her of morphing “into a total crackpot.”
Like many of her Republican colleagues over the last three years, Stefanik has eased up on the mob that stormed the Capitol in support of former President Donald Trump; she called Jan. 6 defendants “hostages” earlier this month.
Cheney had made reference to a statement by Stefanik put out on the day of the Capitol riot in which Stefanik condemned the riot and called for the perpetrators to be “prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” Cheney called that statement a “rare moment of honesty” from Stefanik.
A statement made by Cheney was: “One day she will have to explain how and why she morphed into a total crackpot. History, and our children, deserve to know.”
Stefanik has been in Congress since 2015. She had press statements on her website from 2015, but now only press releases from 2023 and 2024 are there.
Trump has praised Stefanik by saying, “She’s a killer.” Stefanik is considered as a possibility for a vice president pick by Trump. She has become a stalwart supporter and is campaigning for him.
Cheney continues on her quest to prevent Trump from ever occupying the White House again.
