Living In A Jungle?
Sometimes it felt more like dying.

I was born and brought up in little more than a ghetto. Tough? More than once I was lucky to escape with my life, no kidding. Here's my take on it some fifty years later. I really do wonder sometimes how many ended up doing a long term in jail and how many didn't even manage to survive at all. I'm one who got out. Here's what it was like. But just to say, I have no hard feelings, well maybe one or two. But I survived this jungle to tell the tale and that's all that matters really. Life is good. But it doesn't hurt to recall the long distant past to see and appreciate how far you have come in life.

Out on the town Friday night
Everyone’s flying their kite
And it’s such a wonderful sight
But there’s something here not quite right
There’s something in the atmosphere
I can feel it all around me here
To me it feels most like fear
Close your eyes listen and hear
Living in a jungle
A young girl screams out in the night
As she struggles to put up a fight
Her attackers have all taken flight
And she’s fighting hard for her life
A young guy gets stabbed in the back
In an argument about some cheap crack
His future’s looking ever so black
Doesn’t look like he’s ever going to come back
Living in a jungle
An old girl gets mugged in the alley
By some dudes acting out to be pally
I believe her first name was Sally
This is no place for old girls like her to dally
An old boy drinks meths to forget
All the money he lost on a bet
And he’s never won anything yet
He’s up to his neck in debt
Living in a jungle
Oh oh oh
Uh uh uh
Living in a jungle felt more like dying
In a politically motivated, socially mis-constructed
Bungle
