Living Alaska — When It Snows
An Ice-Skating Experience

White Fluffy Flakes
It started snowing yesterday afternoon; the big white fluffy flakes cascaded lazily through the night. I woke up at two in the morning, looked out the window, and it was still coming down.
Blue Sky and Snow
I drank my first cup of coffee at 7 am, gazing out the window at a blanket of soft white snow. It covered everything, and the sun came out in a dazzling display of blue sky.

Carpe Diem
There is nothing better than the contrast of bright blue on white snow. With the day off work, I was free to enjoy the snow. I relived my childhood by sledding down by the local lake.
A Forty-Year Hiatus
Watching the winter wonderland, kids playing, dogs frolicking, and the locals ice skating, I decided to join in the fun. After a forty-year hiatus from ice skating, I rented a pair.

Finding Confidence
It came back quickly; I skated with trepidation for the first few minutes but quickly built my confidence and found myself enjoying the experience.
Shoveling Snow
It could have been the scenery or nostalgia, but I smiled enthusiastically. Shoveling snow in the cold morning was worth the effort, allowing me a day to play in the snow.

Sharing the Moment
Sometimes, life offers you the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors; my answer is to seize the moment and enjoy. I wanted to share a moment of fun from Ketchikan, Alaska, with love and ice skates.
