Waking Up

I woke up today under blue skies. I could not see them through the roof, but I knew they were there. I pulled back the blinds in my living room and was greeted by blue. The blue that only an open sky will give you.

Shades of Blue

Have you ever noticed the different shades of blue that come with the changing sky? The sky looks different in other parts of the world. Color is the diffraction of light over the molecules it bounces off. When the light is intense or focused you will get a deeper color. When the light is refracted or bounces off the molecules at a different angle you will get a different hue of blue.

Angle of the Sun

That is why the sky is different shades of blue in different parts of the world, even though the sky is made up of the same molecules. The angle of the sun changes the intensity of the light. The light then refracts off the molecule differently, creating a unique blue for every region of the world.

What Blue Means

I love blue, especially on Saturday morning when I do not have to go to work. That means I get to go ride my bike and have fun. Yeah, for the color blue. Loving the Alaska Spring morning. From Ketchikan, Alaska with love.
