For everyone who may be reading this “Happy New Year!” As we say bye-bye to 2023, gearing up for the momentous arrival of Dragon Year next week, it’s once again that time of year: holiday parties and family feasts; not forgetting your written resolutions! Have you ever felt that your New Year’s list was just last year written again? You’re not alone! For a moment, let’s talk about this year. Did you manage to achieve what you had planned, or things didn’t turn out quite the way they were meant? This article will be your help if you are feeling unfulfilled with your goals or just hopelessly waiting for a better tomorrow. I’m nearly spilling my secret to living as if you have 300 more years ahead of time.

Warning: Starting today, everything will be ten times better than before! The journey’sjust about to begin.

1. Split Your Day into 3 for Maximum Impact

How many times a day do you take some time to consider how your day went? Whether it’s something you do every day, once a week or even just now and then- stopping to reflect can change your life. It’s like looking at your map when driving for a long time — it takes you where you want to go. To make this work, here’s a simple plan: you should set alarms at three important times — 1 PM, 7 PM and 11 PM. Each alarm is a reminder to pause and reflect.

  • Around 1 PM: What have I done this morning? And what will the afternoon bring me?
  • At seven o’clock, reflect on your daily achievements and it’s time to wind down.
  • Finally, before you finally turn in for the night 10 pm or so is a good time to reflect on how things were today and what tomorrow may bring.

This way, you not only go through the motions: But you live with a purpose!

2. Make Your “Spare Time” Worthwhile

Take a minute to consider all those small rests we take in the course of our day. Perhaps it’s the hours lost on buses, waiting for meetings to get started, or waiting outside for a friend who always turns up late. Even if these moments aren’t much, they are just waiting for you to seize them. Let’s break it down with some simple math: Every 10 minutes of these periods spent productively means an extra hour over a year. That equates to more than two whole days just for self-improvement! And using your total commute time? It could be 360 hours a year. Just think what you could learn or accomplish in all that time skills, mountains of knowledge, leaps forward at work and school. So now, reflect upon how simple it is just to scroll through your phone looking at funny videos or browsing social media. Of course, it’s okay to relax and enjoy yourself, but couldn’t some of those hours and days become part of making your life better? Take those who listen to educational podcasts, watch helpful YouTube videos or read interesting articles in their free time for example. Those little moments are turning into big opportunities for personal development. So, the next time you have a bit of time to kill, what might be done with it? Perhaps you should listen to a podcast episode on something that’s always interested you, or read an article with information relevant to the project. Just make the most use of every minute!

3. Prioritize Responsibilities Before Rewards

Imagine you’re at a family dinner. On the table, there’s a mix of your favourite foods and those healthy veggies that you don’t always find exciting. What do you reach for first? If you go for your favourites straight away, you might not have room left for the veggies. But if you eat the veggies first, not only do you get the nutrition, but you also enjoy your favourite dishes even more afterwards.

This is a lot like how we should handle our daily tasks. Think of your major goals and dreams as your favourite dishes they’re exciting and satisfying. The less exciting but necessary tasks are like those healthy veggies — not always fun, but good for you. So get that dirty laundry out of the way first, and then you can truly blissfully participate in all the things that are your favourites without one bit of guilt or stress.

Let’s use another example. Think about your day like emptying a jar full of rocks, pebbles, and sand into water. The big rocks are your main responsibilities — things like family duties, important work projects, or personal development. These should go into your jar first. Next, come the pebbles — smaller tasks and hobbies. After that, add the sand — little things that aren’t essential but still need to get done. Lastly, there’s the water — fun and relaxation, like watching your favourite YouTube videos or scrolling through social media. If you start with the water or sand, you won’t have room for the big rocks. But if you start with the big rocks, everything else will find its place.

Hence, when you begin your day think about what are the big rocks in life and do those things first. Do what’s necessary and then kick back-everything else will work itself out.

4. Embrace Your Inner CEO

Think of yourself as the head honcho in your own life. Just as the choices of a CEO make or break for his company, every day your decisions determine the course of your life. Just as the options a CEO makes affect whether or not his company succeeds, your health and happiness depend on what you accept to eat. For example, if you simply can’t seem to get your finances together maybe it is because today just slides by in money spent without a thought given for tomorrow. If you’re not feeling well physically, it probably has to do with the choices that you made: perhaps too much junk food; or lack of exercise. But here’s the good news: like a CEO, you can change your decision and direct the course of life in an even better direction. Let’s be honest: Human mistakes happen. Sometimes we blame others or our circumstances when things go wrong… But that approach doesn’t help us develop. If things go awry at work, instead of getting angry with the boss think about what you can learn from it. It’s not a question of fault; it is about accepting responsibility and learning from all situations. So, just think — what if you had the thinking/mindset of a person like Bill Gates, Elon Musk or Warren Buffett? In your shoes, what would they do? If you believe they can overcome the barriers in your life, so too can you. If you think and act like they would have, then you too possess the same potential for success.

Bringing It All Home

Before we go, let’s put everything in perspective. 1. Reflect and Reorganize N number of times per day: Build a habit of reflecting on your activities N number of times per day. For example, you can think of your day broken up into three intervals, one for self-reflection and two others to catch on with what you have yet undone. It’ll help you improve yourself and get the most out of every day. 2. Unlock the Power of Spare Time: Those little moments of downtime? They’re hidden gems. Use them to learn something new or for personal growth. Whatever the specific circumstances, these moments can gradually add up to a considerable self-preparation over time. 3. Responsibilities First, Rewards Later: To handle your daily tasks like a meal, tackle the important but less appetizing before you indulge in what’s delectable (like downing some vegetables first and then polishing off that cupcake). So, you’ll make sure that your essential duties are performed before relaxing. 4. Be Your CEO: Manage your life like a company leader runs his business. Whatever your choices, own them. Your Life Will Take The Path Determined by These Decisions No matter what area of your life, if it’s money matters or the health and quality time you have to spend with family and friends — you determine all this for yourself.

Wrapping It Up

As we near the end, don’t forget you aren’t just at a new beginning: You are embarking on an exploration leading to a life full and rewarded beyond any imagining! You possess everything it takes to make this a successful journey inside you. It’s all about utilizing the power of reflection to know yourself, making full use of your time so that every minute is gained ground, aligned with the direction you want your life to take command like a genuine leader. Every day is a gift to create the life you have always wanted. This is not going through the motions — it’s building a masterwork of experiences, each one more precious than the next. This is your opportunity to enjoy not only a long life but one that abounds with meaning and richness. So here’s to your voyage — a journey in which every day is an adventure, each moment a chance for cultivation and every step brings you nearer to the life you envision. Each day, step forward joyfully as if life were 300 great years. To life, to real living, this is my toast to you!
