Listen to the Silence

Silence is golden and so underrated.

The world is constantly buzzing and spinning out of control. We are connected to our technology twenty-four hours a day. People opt to stay inside so that they can surf the web or binge-watch their favorite shows.

There is so much noise to distract us – also, lots to worry and anger us as well.

The continual commotions drown out the voices inside. We are always focused on the external world and its problems, and we forget there is an inner dialog we don’t hear.

It is so easy to get lost in the idea that incessant stimulation is what we need. You have to keep up or get left behind. It seems we need to know more. Be more. We need to have more.

But what if what we have inside our soul is the most essential thing in life?

By listening to the silence, we can notice the nature around us. The seagull squawking and flying overhead swoops down to catch its prey so that it is nourished. The ghost crabs scurrying across the sand and ducking into its hole for shelter. The white foam that tops a wave and washes up on the shore. The fluffy clouds that are dotted through the blue sky. The reeds that sway in the wind.

Through silence, we can see how harmonious the natural world around us is.

We feel life is out of sync. We are told of all the atrocities in the world through news outlets on television and the internet. We get lost in the mundane. Our vibration lowers, and we stop experiencing joy. We get sucked down into the nothingness.

Life is instinctual. Nature is what grounds and teaches us.

The nature and animals around us aren’t educated through books, television, or the internet. They aren’t told how to be content with their surroundings. They just are. They adapt. They follow their inherent senses.

Most of how we approach life and love is intuitive; we can read all the books and study different philosophies, but what we do, is through how we feel in our gut. When we listen to the silence within us, we can find answers to the most challenging questions.

Concentrating on the stillness will help us to find the solutions we seek.

In a continually changing world, listen to the quietness, and you will find peace within yourself.
