Like Throwing Spaghetti At A Wall
A New Writer’s Prompt with a Reward

You know that saying, right? If you throw the spaghetti at the wall and it sticks, it’s done? So is this a corollary? If you throw enough spaghetti at the wall, some of it will eventually be perfect?
To help you with your spaghetti throwing adventures, here’s a massive writer’s prompt.
But first, you should know, I just can’t compete with the SlackJaw contest. I can’t even find the time to enter. But maybe you can, and maybe you can claim some of that pirate booty and bring it home to buy rum for the crew of the Good Ship MuddyUm.
Here’s my personal version of the carrot.
How about a coffee, tea, or chai on me?
For the month of April, I’ll be sending a cash payment in the amount of $15 USD to go buy your favorite drink (drive by take-out, eh?).
The 5 writers who have the MOST number of submissions to MuddyUm and my other three publications combined, in the month of April (retro to April 1,2020), will receive this noble award. And they will have the articles of their choice featured in a special letter to each publication’s followers.
My thinking is, if you throw enough spaghetti on the wall, you’ll either get the attention of the human curators, the AI curators, or at the very least, a shiny new top writer badge!
So go for it! Throw your random articles voluminously into the boiling hot pot.
Spaghetti sauce not included.
The fine print. I own 4 publications. This is a MIX AND MATCH contest. Publish in any of the four, and they all count cumulatively for the contest. You need to keep track of your own numbers. Then if you think you are in the running, send me a PM on May 1st with your count and link to all your pieces across these four pubs. This part is important. If you are the most prolific and don’t PM me with your info on May 1st, you’re disqualified. Rules of the ship.
Four places to write. So it doesn’t have to be all comedy. And anyway, that’s challenging most days now, isn’t it?
Publications to qualify are below. I’ll maintain my same speedy publishing commitment across them all.
Humor of any sort.
A place for reflection, emotion, contemplation.
Mother Earth and all connected to her.
Stories of high performance, leadership, inspiration, innovation, and women’s stories.
If you aren’t a writer for these and wish to be, just let me know and I’ll add you. Some of you have a huge head start for this one. Thank you for being a regular contributor! If you are reading this and want to get in on the contest, it’s not too late. Especially if you have really fast fingers. Warning — if I have to do a lot of editing, it may slow down your personal time to publication.
This is my first contest for 2020. There will be more.
