Like the French Say: “Take it Off”
Dress your article like the classy broad that it is

Fashion sense
I’m not French and I don’t claim to be, but I love the effortless style of French fashion. A few years ago I sought the secret to dressing with flawless simplicity. I’m happy to say I found it and it works every time.
If I want to look effortless, chic, or even classy, I get dressed as I normally would and then I take one thing off.
Yes, that’s right. I remove one item. It seems to be the American way to over-up and overdo everything, including fashion.
I am weighed down by my need to don every cute and sassy fashion item every time I dress: sweater, scarf, vest, leggings, boots, high socks, earrings, watch, hat, oversized glasses, bag, coat.
It’s too much.
And so I simplify. I simplify and simplify. I may even simplify, simplify, simplify. I take off one thing — or three — and achieve my desired look, one that is chic and effortless.
Take it off
I think of this often when I’m writing and editing articles.
Applying this fashion sense to my publishing sense is my new favorite thing. If I can’t find a good place for a paragraph, I lose it.
Each time I edit, I look for at least one place where I can remove content.
Whether it’s a paragraph, a sentence, a grouping of words, or a single word, I am finding joy and satisfaction in taking one-off. It’s kind of like decluttering for writers.
This thoughtful removal of content leaves me feeling fresher when I’m reading and also affords me a Medium gold star: an article with a shorter read time.
Classy broads get more views
Shorter articles are where it’s at on this platform. When I started paring my articles down to 4 minutes and less, my views shot way up.
I’m keen to continue dressing my articles in the effortless style that the French have mastered.
Who knows? My fresher, lesser articles may even make me a dollar or two.
