Abstract

The poem "Like No Other Fire" delves into the profound and complex nature of love, comparing it to a unique and relentless fire. It speaks to the cyclical patterns of relationships, the familiarity of shared experiences, and the soft feelings that often remain hidden. The author, America Zed, uses natural imagery, such as a leaf on the breeze, to symbolize the unpredictable journey of love and the inevitability of change. The narrative is interwoven with a yearning for peace and the desire to be loved, despite the torment that love can bring. The poem concludes with the acknowledgment that the hunger and loss associated with love are unparalleled, leaving a lasting impression like no other fire.

Like No Other Fire

Poetry ~ Lyrics

* Well they say there’s no word, When the moon runs out of time.

And we circle around the familiar, Where the soft feelings hide.

Like a leaf on the breeze I just know where you fall down.

Old as sorrow and trees Love has thrown my heart around.

So I may tell you that I’m undecided, While you move along the rails and tire.

Whatever I’ve become …

It’s like no other fire.

In the temperature of hope.

It’s like no other fire.

Maybe you have learned, From the pain that makes men strong.

Time will not be kind forever, So lean in, and be loved.

Hear my prayers in the dark All that suffers when the pain glares out.

Where’s my angel of peace Who can turn this torment around.

Well I may tell you that I’m undecided, As you close the door on old desires.

Whatever I have loved …

It’s like no other fire.

No rain could ever stop.

It’s like no other fire.

Like a leaf on the breeze I’ll be there when you fall down.

Old as silence and grief Love has thrown my heart around.

So I may tell you that I’m undecided, While you move along the rails and tire.

But whatever I’ve longed for …

It’s like no other fire.

Feel the hunger, and loss.

Like no other fire.

And if you don’t see me at all …

I’m like no other fire ...
