Life is Simply a Karma-Balancing Act

Every day we’re all heading one step closer to the end

Like it or not, we’re all heading one step closer to the end

A race where no one gets left behind. Moving at our predestined time, to reach the ultimate finish line

Every day with every breath, we’re using the battery life of our mortality

Yet, we pretend ignorance and slander our limited time over careless frets

Arrogantly massaging our elevated EGO — Edging Gratitude Out

We wage wars and slaughter our own kind. Hands stained in blood, we malign our karma

We spend a lifetime gathering material dust and guarding our temporary citadels

Even though no one has ever taken their belongings to the other world. It all gets left behind

We create bonds and bring in new life, in hopes of company to endure this journey of life

But we arrived alone; we’ll depart alone. Even our dearest ones can’t walk with us through that exit door

We amass affluence, power, and privilege, oblivious that it all ultimately evaporates at the final doorstep

When the end comes, unannounced, we take nothing besides our timeless soul to the next realm

We travel with our karma baggage; the good we did brings us a higher new life; the bad is a karmic burden we must expiate in our next life

In the final frontier of this game called life — we simply have our karmic balance sheet to check out

So, do more good and be a better human, it’s the only way to a happier afterlife
