Life in 4 Seasons

Spring — Summer — Autumn — Winter

As a wise mentor once told me: life has cycles just like seasons. I found this approach philosophical and meaningful. In the lines bellow I develop the core idea with personal analysis and understanding.

The core idea is that life cycle can be divided in weather seasons, each one having its own purpose and aiming to prepare for the next season.

Spring — Childhood

Just like blossoming flowers of spring, childhood is for the most, experienced as a period where we flourish, we see colours everywhere. Life is a rainbow for children growing up in a safe, loving and supportive environment. It is a period when we grow the most and experience visible changes in our being. It is also a phase when parents plant the seeds that will grow later on. The children grow into teenagers, young adults: it’s summer.

Summer — Youth

Here the flourishing is set. The teenager and young adult enjoy the warmth and freedom offered by the unlimited possibilities available. The same way we get to be more active and outside exploring during summer, so it is for the youth who has a feeling that the sky is the limit. It is the exploration phase. The teenager and young adult test out several experiences that will contribute to his/her growth into a mature adult. It’s autumn.

Autumn — Adulthood

Flowers and colours fade away. But there’re still some colours, a bit less diversified. A curious and mystical season. You know that you are not longer a child nor a teenager but in parallel you are still nostalgic of that careless and limitless period of younger age. Now you may have responsibilities that keep you grounded on earth and make you dream less big because the reality reminds you that there are some limits, some commitments. It is not anymore only you (if at this phase you have children, committed relationships of all kinds). In this season you are also preparing for older age: you start saving and/or investing. Because soon after adulthood comes old/senior age.

Winter — Old hood, death and beginning of the cycle

Senior age is comparable to winter. As in winter you notice limited mobility. It is cold and dark. So you are more inside enjoying the presence of eventual grandchildren. You are more caring for yourself because you are wise enough by experience to know how central that is. In this season you are more closer to death than to life, that makes you have clarity into what truly matter. Your focus is less volatile and you evolve surrounded by the ones you love and care for. This could also be a season of loneliness for some, because children have grown up and gone living their own life. The cycle will start again for the next generation.

Until next time, take care and be busy being awesome. People will always find ways to talk, but if they talk then it means you are doing something and they are mostly…talking. Stay focused and keep on doing your thing because only you know why you do what you do.

One love 💜
