Do You Believe in Ghost?

Unveiling my real life experience

I’d like to clarify that this story is being recounted by my parents, as I was very young during that time. Their recollections provide a glimpse into the experiences and events that unfolded when I was too little to remember them myself.

If you read my stories regularly, you may know that my mom and dad came to live in the city after their wedding. They shifted to this new city with a lots of dreams and ambitions. My dad was finding a house for a rent to start their new life in the city. They found a decent house and started looking for jobs.

After sometime, he got a job that was far from the house they were renting in the city, and the rent was also very high. They had to travel two hours every day to commute to his job. So, he decided to change the house to a slightly outskirts area that was closer to his job, in order to save on rent and commute time as well.

They started their new life in that house and were living there. As time passed, my mother was pregnant with me, and I was born into this world after a short span of time. As the story goes forward, we had to vacate that house as the owner wanted to renovate it. My parents had lived in that house for quite a long time.

My father discovered a new house in a nearby neighborhood, prompting us to move out of our previous residence and into our new home. When we arrived, it became evident that the house had been closed for an extended period.

My mother told me that when they first entered the house there was an inexplicable sensation that enveloped us. The air felt heavy, and an uncomfortable chill ran down our spines.

The house had two levels, each telling a different story. The first floor had two rooms, each carrying a sense of something hidden , and above it was an open terrace that felt both freeing and eerie. Going downstairs to the ground floor, the kitchen felt sad, the hall seemed to remember old times, and the room held echoes of the past.

According to what my parents said, the ground floor didn’t feel that spooky, but when you went to the second floor, the house felt a bit strange.

Since we have changed house and things are scattered here and there, Dad decided that today we should sleep on the second floor. The air in the rooms felt heavy, as if something was watching us. Sometimes we’d get this cold feeling down our spines, even on warm days. It was like an invisible presence was making its presence known, and it wasn’t a friendly one.

No matter how much they tried to shake off the uneasy feeling, it stuck around. It’s like our house had turned into a place where negative vibes just didn’t want to leave.

It was as if the house held a secret, a tale of unease that left everyone wondering about its mysterious past. But something even more concerning was unfolding. Slowly, staying in that place started affecting the health of my family members.

From the day we started living upstairs, a person in our house fell ill. Just as I fell sick first, and after a few days of recovery, when I was getting better, my sister also fell ill. It felt like a cycle was in motion, as if one person fell sick after another, like a pattern

At first, it was subtle—a lingering fatigue, unexplained headaches, and restlessness at night. But soon, it escalated. The once-bustling house turned into a haven of sickness. Coughs, colds, and inexplicable ailments became frequent visitors. Doctors were puzzled, unable to pinpoint the cause.

As days turned into weeks, the negative energy seemed to seep into our lives.

My mother suggested that we should vacate this house as it’s not good to be stay there further. So, in around two months we vacate the house.

As we were getting ready to leave the house, our neighbor came over, looking surprised. "You just moved in recently, right? Why are you moving out so soon?" they asked. We sighed and decided to share everything that had happened to us. We told them about the strange things that happened to us that affect our happiness and health.

The neighbor looked at us with a thoughtful expression and began to share something surprising. They said that a whole family used to live in the house before us. But then, something sad happened. The only people left were a grandmother and grandfather. The grandfather was facing a lot of problems, and he felt very sad. One day, he made a very sad decision. He tied himself up and left this world.

The neighbor told us that they believe the spirit of the grandfather was still in the house, maybe feeling lost or upset. They said that's why all those strange things were happening. Hearing this was both surprising and a little scary. It made us realize that sometimes, things we can't see might be affecting us.

Do you have any such horror experiences in life? Would you like me to write more such stories as my mother has shared many horror stories to me?

I would like to give a shoutout to Britt H. for sharing such an amazing poetry.

Dr. Preeti Singh shared a story about the beauty of friendship.
