Life and Times of Clifford The Cat
March Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Pet People”
Scram humans, this is mine now!
Even though I love pets and animals, I tend to move around and travel a lot — not so good for keeping pets. My daughter, however, loves cats and generally stays in one place much more than me.
This photo of Clifford the kitten was taken when I came for a visit one day when he was just a few weeks old. Pity had been bequeathed upon on him and his brother, who were both anxiously awaiting new human caretakers in front of a local supermarket one day.
Soon after bringing them home, my daughter and her husband were moving a mattress into the house and decided to take a little break. They propped the mattress lengthwise against the wall.
Clifford immediately decided it was his new play thing. Jumping on it, scratching at it and climbing to the top. After having his fun, he proceeded to lay down on the top-most point as if to say, “this is mine now, you can’t have it back!”
It was so adorable. See how much he was trying to dig his claws in. Ha ha

My daughter has three full time cats, including Clifford, who mostly all get along, but occasionally fight over who has ultimate control over the household. A forth cat, Clifford’s brother actually, is a tom cat who comes and goes when he feels like it.
This photo of Clifford was taken nearly four years ago now! Can’t believe it’s been that long! Clifford, of course, is a full grown cat now — in fact he is a BIG cat now. Next time I will post an updated photo of him, which I took just a few months ago. He’s still as cute as ever!
