Liberated by the Ordinary
Transformative moments do not have to be extraordinary. Sometimes the mundane is what is most potent.
What is it to be a wanted part of someone’s life? To be needed in the ordinary of another’s day? Thoughtless lies denied my humanness Labeling my heart as wounded and needy Trained to be unseen and silent Never knowing that I could be desired Until his love liberated my soul from its chains
The unshackling of my worthiness Required no grand or boisterous affair Shockingly real and completely ordinary In the unassuming moments of honesty His earnest love and sincere heart Beckons my courage to trust and heal Witnessing the power of shared authenticity
The phone call when he has just a few minutes Not because I’m on his list of things to do Not because it’s something he is obligated to do He wants to share his world with me He wants to know about mine He calls because I am a hundred miles away And he wants me with him — at his side
A funny text, an interesting article A highlight reel of last night’s game The new shirt he is considering A provocative story or delicious toy The delightful sound that is his alone Makes my heart sing with contentment Heralding messages welcoming me into his world
This is what it is to be wanted as part of someone’s life To be needed in the ordinary of another’s day Intentional sharing of our humanness Restoring the damaged places in my heart Seen and heard and valued with my flaws Knowing that I am adored and desired Because love liberated my soul in the ordinary
