Letters to myself
Poetic letters
Dear Me,
I give permission to you to love unconditionally, to make decisions others just don’t understand. I give you permission to be sad, to feel joy, to cry. There is only one life. Live it well. Feel — the touch of another, wind in your face, sun and rain on your skin, lips against yours. Don’t numb yourself to a bleak future. Step out into the world, takes risks and chances. Don’t look to others for reassurance, instead, look into your heart. Look after yourself, I give permission for you to stop, slow down, to be. Look after me.
Love Me.
Dear Me
Put down those glasses. The ones that see only a critical reflection of yourself. See yourself through the eyes of those who love you. See your passion, your talents, your worth. Recognise the journey you’ve been through to get here. To this day. To this point in your life. Mistakes are part of growth. Don’t let them be the focus. Instead, focus on the positive, the good, the joy. The battle scars you wear are a reminder of how far you have come. You’ve got this! You are worthy. You are loved. Most of all by me.
Love,
Me.
Dear Me,
Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Slowly breathe out. Look out your closest window. What do you see? A beautiful sky, blue, sparkling, tinged with soft with clouds. Grey on the horizon perhaps? But you’re used to that, the grey times. Find the multiple shades of green in the grass and the trees. See the nuances in their foliage. Textures, rough and smooth, shiny and dull. They hold promises of new growth, new life, new chances. Rough tree-trunks, some gnarled, some smooth. Thin, brown twigs, a reminder of different times. Take a step outside into this mind-clearing space. Take a deep breath. Slowly breathe out. Finding nature. Finding yourself.
Love, Me
