Letter to Heather Bresch, CEO; Mylan
25 August, 2016
Ms. Heather Bresch, CEO Mylan Robert J. Coury Global Center 1000 Mylan Blvd. Canonsburg, PA 15317
Ms. Bresch,
Enclosed is a letter to Hillary Clinton wherein I mentioned you. I am writing 100 letters to her — one for every day between her nomination and election — regarding health care in America, advocating for Single Payer, Medicare For All, Universal Care as the natural evolution of the PP-ACA. I am cc:ing you as indicated; no reply is necessary.
Today, I saw the press release regarding access to the injector pen. For the end users, this will be seen as a step in the right direction. The media will laud you. You and I both know that when companies decrease the OOP to the patient, the pharmaceutical company will be seen as more benevolent and the “consumer” outrage will subside. The corporate revenue and profits, however, will continue to be increased.
I won’t forget, however, this was a manufactured crisis to secure more profit for Mylan. As a capitalist and businessman myself, it was brilliantly executed. I am impressed. However, as a consumer and citizen of the United States, an organization that is now complicit in decimating affordable access to health care, I am appalled.
I know what you did. I know how you did it. As far as maximizing the profits for Mylan, you did an exceptional job steering this as its CEO. Regardless of its legality and business acumen, that does not negate the ethical issues you are skirting.
We can all claim to just be survivors, hanging on for life to a floating door in this devastation we call “Obamacare.” It is a convenient excuse for bad behavior. But in the 3am truth of our souls, we know better. You know what you did.
Regards,

Gerard McLean
