Letter to a Beggar on the Street
When they cannot eradicate poverty they make sure to eradicate the poor people.

Dear Beggar,
I have been seeing you sleeping on the street since I was 7 years old. At that time, I didn’t know what poverty is. Forgive me for not being there for you and understanding the circumstances which led your life to miseries. Forgive me for not providing you the basic amenities of life and nurturing your family. Forgive me for being selfish and avoiding your pain. I am a grown-up woman now and I wish I could take away the pain of all of you with a magic wand. But that’s not possible.
I don’t want to be judgmental about you and your circumstances. It won’t serve any purpose to me to find out now when you have turned 18 years old “why didn’t you study in the first place?” Had we all been bothered about it as a society it wouldn’t have happened at all? Like any other person, you wanted a family so you got married obviously at an early age than most of us but that doesn’t take away your right of having a family. I know you wanted kids as well so you got many to call your abode a home.
The government is sleeping and they aren’t bothered about your section of society because you don’t exist for the world. It breaks my heart to tell you more that during pandemic it’s the poorest of poor souls who have died the most on the street. Maybe, it was all a part and parcel of the government’s plan to get rid of you. When they cannot eradicate poverty they make sure to eradicate the poor people. It’s the same everywhere in this world not just in my country.
I am damn sure you never wanted to come to this world looking out for ways to feed yourself. Some days are fortunate enough when you get to earn but then there are days when you sleep hungry with no work in hands. Your wages are depending on other people for them to provide you work and during this phase of lockdown, most people have turned their back on you too. Trust me, people are killing each other with emotional and mental abuse at home so you are blessed they are not throwing their filth at you.
I am not denying that you don’t need money. We all need money. I understand that part apparently and I am not a rich person when it comes to monetary terms. But I am very rich in my ideas and thoughts. That’s why I am sharing my feelings with you. If ever I get to earn a lot of money in my life, I make sure I end up educating kids. I would just be a medium to provide for them but I would want everybody to be educated enough to fend themselves. I wouldn’t forget this part ever and give my best to raise others in whatever capacity I could.
It’s not with the big words we make a difference but actions for sure. I hope everything turns out well for you and God opens different doors for you to look after your family. And for the cruelties inflicted on you, I apologize to you with folded hands and pray that you get enough strength and courage to deal with unfortunate events in your life.
Signing Off.
