Letter Poem
Thank You note to a friend
Dear Denise,
At the onset, my apologies for coming by late. Often health exigencies find priority over my work some days.
As always, I am overwhelmed. The care you take every time to respond to my calls, makes me believe in my words more than I do myself.
The way you added your thoughts and observations to my verses, has enriched them in a way complete and complementary.
You started with:
Can you feel awe for another person? I believe that we can. It is what I feel for a fellow Medium Writer and I’d like to pay tribute to her here
I am in awe of the space you are in, in this milieu of self-promotion! You went on to write:
Noticing a lone ‘leaf that’ that ‘ catches the rhythm at leisure’ sparks a spiritual awareness and first, it is just a question,”what is this place”?
really makes me delve into my own thoughts and the imagery again, that came to my mind when I sat to write this poem.
When you write:
This place,”lending ladder to firmament”,brings her to the heavens, touches a place what she knows, recognizes, but unclear
makes me wonder, what I saw with my eyes closed was actually heaven. But none of us know what it looks like!
You picked up on the right note when you elaborated:
“Sight blocked, Vision enabled”.The paradox! We have to stop seeing, to see.
where, I wanted to explore dumping past ‘antsy ‘, to reach a point of eternal healing, our final home, where we all long to reside.
Your personalized ways of response, which leaves a spot of calm and elation makes me wonder if all the bruhaha that goes around is even worth it.
The tradition of personal letter writing, however extinct bares its old world charm. I still carry bits of the Archies/Hallmark letter pads I used in plenty along with small notes of ‘sorry’ and ‘thank you’, from friends from my school days.
You in a way, against all routine, revived it beautifully, non-obtrusive to the current flow of things.
Thank you is a small word to use for this delicious experience you gifted me again.
Hope, this way we revive the old art of letter-writing in a way, that pubs begin to use them as their prompts(on a lighter note). Till then, wish we continue our unique conversation mode.
Looking forward to future pleasures of lettering’,
Love always, Monoreena
