Abstract

The website content introduces an online writing course titled "Insight — A Creative Writing Course," which emphasizes a hands-on approach to learning by doing. The course provides a platform for writers to publish their drafts and receive constructive feedback from fellow group members. The process is designed to be supportive, with an emphasis on positive reinforcement and learning through collaboration.

Let’s start writing. We practice learning by doing.

Module 1. So how do we start?

Place to publish.

We write in the Discussion section (here) in the forum, Insight — Our Creative Writing Channel.

What do you do?

1. You start the thinking process.

Write down your ideas. Writing helps you think.

What do you want to write about?

Perhaps something related to you, your life, your future.

Let’s say you think of where you are today, what you have experienced in the last few years. And you will try to write a story about how you want to shape or create your future.

2. A heading for your story

This starts the writing process.

Think of a heading for your story, something like “This is me 3 years from now”, or “My future”, or “My life as I want to see it in 5 years”.

3. Genre?

Are you going to write an article, a fiction story, a poem, a speech, or what? Simply a story?

Don’t let the genre question stop you.

Just start writing.

4. Focus?

You focus on what will come, not on what has been.

5. The first words, the first sentences

The first words, the first sentences give direction for what comes after.

6. The conflict

A challenge, a problem that has to be resolved. What is imperfect now, that should be achieved?

7. Structure?

The three elements in a story: The beginning A), the middle B) and the ending C). What happens from A, via B to C?

Publish the draft of your text here before Friday this week at 23:59 CET. All members of the group can give feedback.

Remember: only comments and advice that can help the writer understand the improvement potentials of the draft.

Avoid negative critique, remember this is a learning situation.
