Let Your Blank Page Blossom With Daily Word Daffodils
Tend the garden of your literary mind and you will see wondrous writing results
Yesterday I happened to see my neighbor’s front yard and it was full of blossoming followers. My first impression was that they were daffodils.
“They might be tulips," I thought later that evening.
And then I couldn’t sleep until I compared daffodils with tulips so that I had a better idea of the correct name of the beautiful flowers in her yard.
What do flowers and gardening have to do with writing stories on Medium or writing for another platform? Well, I’m glad you asked.
Beautiful plants, flowers, bushes and trees don’t just miraculously appear out of nowhere. No, not at all.
Something started the process. Somebody took the time to plan the space, to purchase the bulbs, and to give them enough sunlight, water, and nutrient-rich soul.
Writing Gardens
What about you? You have a garden inside your mind where there are plenty of ingredients for great stories.
What do you need to get started to grow wonderful content?
- Good ideas (seeds)
- The right environment of words (soil, sunlight)
- A caring writer (gardener)
Anybody can take ideas from one point to another. The exceptional writer can turn them into something great.
An average writer can produce content and get it published somewhere. A great writer can turn it into something memorable.
You don’t have to write spectacular prose on a regular basis. The best scenario is to come up with unique, creative stories that are interesting and distinct.
If you need ideas to write about, you can try:
- Top destinations you would choose if you had a million dollars
- Name a TV show where you wanted to be a character (mine is “X-Files)
- Describe one of your biggest mistakes without naming names
- Describe a restaurant you would open if money was no object (pizza saloon for me)
Let your ideas grow into wonderful stories. Sit back, nurture them, and then watch them transition into new content that will be appreciated by your fans.
