Let Them Eat Cake!
Musings about the genuine connections we make virtually

Now that I have your attention … what else merits a pause in your scroll today?!
Although I cut back severely with social media this year, I remain firmly connected with some treasured ladies when I do pop on. We may not always catch each other. But when we do, our chatter continues seamlessly as if there were never a break. And it’s always punctuated with peals of laughter!
It’s so enriching to create new connections virtually, such as here on Medium, as well. When you discover kindred souls across the country or even around the world, it’s truly delicious to revel in our commonalities.
And speaking of delicious, a rum cake showed up on my doorstep this week. When I scanned the card, I thought to myself, “Yo-ho-ho, how did Terri know I have a pirate vanity license plate holder on my car?” It wasn’t a bottle but the rum-soaked cake fits my theme, no?
Last month, another virtual cohort actually hand-crafted a greeting card for me! It was accompanied by a darling notebook with a colorful piwakawaka on the cover—a fantail bird native to my friend’s homeland of New Zealand.
Carol explained it is a small but cheeky bird. I said, “Hmmm, little but loud, eh?” And she replied, “Yes, it made me think of you!”
Bwahaha! I love being understood, don’t you? Appreciated for all my quirks and quips!
I hope you, too, find the connections you seek in this vast social galaxy. That they leave you feeling inspired, enlightened, and entertained.
Because a dose of laughter with special friends makes every day brighter, don’t you think?
