Let the Chosen Ones Choose

Maybe they want to live their own lives

Gods, goddesses, Powers to be, powers that were, Did she ask for this burden? Yes or no, What does she want to do? Her choice.

I hear the goddesses speaking.

Haughty, scornful Isabeau derides and dismisses her.

“We go from a beautiful, Amazon princess warrior to this joke, a dysfunctional misfit who wants to be a hero and a librarian. A librarian!”

She considers her unworthy and takes the child’s death as a certainty.

The animal avatars love her. But is it for herself or the role she is to play?

That strange house and her beloved dictionary are different beings, tied to her through the blood of her family and its connection to the land. Their loyalty is to her above all else.

The child is fearless, innocent, and bearing the beginnings of power like mine. I would not wish that burden on anyone.

Will she choose her path or remain a pawn like so many before her? I cannot be certain, but I sense a difference in her.
