Let Go and Love

A poetic reflection on mere images.

Sometimes, letting go takes work.

Sometimes, my self-loathing is an anvil and I the hammer that pounds away at my fragility all the live-long day, hungry and thirsty for my own elusive approval.

Other times, like now, letting go feels like a feather, floating by my upturned face, reminding me it’s time to embrace my reflection in the mirror — who is me, after all.

Sometimes, like now, acceptance does not depend on smooth skin or a number on the scale. Sometimes, like now, my arms envelope as much of me as they can in a tender embrace.

My right hand, being nearer to my heart seems to know trusting is as simple as letting go.
