Lessons From The Worst Dates Ever

A man’s perspective on horrible dates

I have gone on some great dates, but I also have been on a fair share of horrible dates. Some dates were bad because of the things I did, but some were not my fault at all.

Let’s explore some of the dates that went south because of the lady’s actions, and why it is a turn-off for men.

First Botched Movie Date

Right out of the gate I want to give some context for this. There was a woman who kept asking me to go on a date. Now, I admittedly was not very interested in going on a date, but she was persistent and so I eventually agreed.

I wasn’t trying to be difficult I was just not very interested, but I figured I would give her a shot, and maybe I would be surprised.

We went to eat some food and then set out to watch a movie afterward. unbeknownst to me, she had invited a group of her friends and they sat in the row in front of us.

Up until this time, we were having a pleasant experience. The entire time the movie was playing her friends kept turning around and staring at us. I didn’t know who they were but I felt very uncomfortable after a while and a little anxious.

Throughout the entire movie, my date kept leaning over to tell me how much she hated it. I began to get very annoyed because it was a movie I was actually looking forward to and the repeated negative comments about it ruined it.

After the date, she told me the group of female stalkers was actually her friends, and they spread a rumor that I was gay for not making out inside the theater.

She did not get another chance on a date for three reasons.

  1. You don’t have to actually enjoy the date, but if the man is paying for the whole thing then honor him a little bit and be respectful.
  2. I agreed to a date with her, and not her entire friend group. I did not appreciate being watched.
  3. I was also offended that she barely got a date with me, and expected me to make out with her all night in front of her friends.

Second And Last Movie Date

This date was by far worse than the previous experience. I knew the girl to be a little “off” before asking her on the date. Her mom was my second-grade teacher and I was familiar with her daughter, the one I was going on the date with.

Before setting out on the date I let her know I would pick her up around 7, but she insisted she drive herself. I then waited for her in the lobby as the movie started because she was late, but played it down as if it didn’t matter when she finally arrived.

While in the movie she asked me what I thought of the main actress, and I said she was “cute”. After flipping out on me for being offensive she then attempts to play the “kill on/marry one/sleep with one” game.

She told me during the movie that she wanted to shop afterward. She had specifically requested a few places to not shop at because “poor people” shopped at those places. I was so annoyed and confused I didn’t talk to her for the rest of the movie.

“Eww no, that is where poor people buy clothing” — My Date

As the movie ended she wanted to go to the bathroom. Instead of asking if I could hold her jacket she just threw it at me, and her coat button snapped me on the neck. I was furious at this point and just wanted to leave.

As we approached the door to leave she wanted to put her jacket on but needed to get her scarf worked out and once again threw her jacket at me. This time the button caught me in the eyelid. I was one small comment away from exploding, but still held it in and tried to be polite.

After leaving the building she didn’t say goodbye or anything and silently walked to her car. At this point, I thought the worst was over, but I was wrong again.

Since she drove separately we ended up driving near each other on our way home. She attempted to merge into my lane without looking which caused me to swerve into oncoming traffic a little bit. I finally snapped resulting in a bunch of beeping and usage of a middle finger.

She did not get a second date for a lot of reasons

  1. Arriving late with no apology
  2. Her unwarranted freakout and hypocrisy
  3. Her disdain for shopping where “poor people” shop, or, where I also shop
  4. Physically causing me pain twice with her jacket buttons
  5. Leaving me in the parking lot with no goodbyes or anything
  6. Almost running me off the road

Lessons From A Bad Date

Dating can be difficult and even downright frustrating a lot of the time. Emotions and tensions can run high, and so it wouldn’t be right to bash the ladies from these horrible dates.

However, a little love and communication could have prevented all of these issues.

Men and women, you are not obligated to take anyone on a date. If someone seems a little strange then by all means keep your distance.

If the date doesn't work out that is completely fine, but you don’t have to go down with the ship.
