Dear Hillary Clinton,
Gerard Mclean here, from Englewood, Ohio, just north of Dayton. This is the seventy-third letter of one hundred I am writing you on health care; one for each day between your nomination and your election. The previous letters can be found in your USPS mailbox or online at 100HRC.com.
I saw the debate tonight. You handled the ACA question skillfully, iterating all the benefits flawlessly with five solid points. I agree with all of them and principally why I support the ACA.
But it makes it extra hard to be an ardent supporter of the ACA, knowing that I am one of the “few” who fall into the hole that the ACA has left on the battlefield, promising to return for us, to not leave us to die after having fought and paid for others to live and thrive.
Over the six years of the law and over fifty votes taken by the House of Representatives attempting to repeal the ACA, I am losing hope that my government will return for me. In January — a mere three month away — I don’t know what I’m going to do for health insurance as Anthem BC/BS of Ohio is aggressively trying to price me out of my plan.
Repealing the ACA like your opponent wants is a ridiculous solution. We need SinglePayer, MedicareForAll, UniversalCare sooner than later. Don’t leave us behind after relying on us to help pass the ACA. After six years, you owe us.
