Leaving Too Soon

Holding my breath

As the sun begins to set

I’m begin to shed my skin

Like a snake in the grass

slithering its tongue

What will this new life expose

Is there strength or giving up in pain

I can’t see what it looks like

Not seeing you again

Faith, love, and hope

Feel like an impossible task

I won’t let you suffer

I’ll let you go at last

The time is not here yet

So far we’re together

But I feel that rainbow bridge

Calling out your name

Wise words were spoken long ago with chimes

The problem is you think you have time

While we run and dance among trees

Never quite believing those we love will leave
