Leaving The Past
A poem about embracing change
Yesterday I was someone else Not that I did not like the person But at the time I was who I was supposed to be. Today I am no longer him Although he still clings on to me Wishing I could go back in time.
I can’t deny There is a part of me that wants him too, I am at a crossroads, Perhaps a pivotal moment in my life, One foot is in the past and the other in the future, My mind is in the middle trying to make a decision.
I am going to embrace change And make the other me a memory, His chapter has been written It is time to open fresh pages And script new experiences. Who I am going to be tomorrow is unknown But I know I am no longer the person I was yesterday.
